Abide Church is a community of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. We exist to glorify God by abiding in Christ, growing in faith, hope, and love, and making disciples in Chelsea, Alabama and beyond.
01 – The Scriptures
We believe the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God, the final authority for faith and practice. (2 Tim. 3:16–17; 2 Pet. 1:20–21)
02 – The Trinity
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, co-equal in essence and glory. (Deut. 6:4; Matt. 3:16-17, 28:19; John 1:14, 18; Jonn 15:26; 2 Cor. 13:14; Gal. 4:6; Eph. 2:18; Col. 1:15; Heb. 1:2-3)
03 – God the Father
We believe the Father is sovereign over creation, providence, and redemption. He is holy, loving, just, and worthy of worship. (Eph. 1:3–6; Isa. 6:3)
04 – Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as substitutionary atonement for sin, rose bodily from the grave, ascended into heaven, and will return in power and glory. (John 1:1,14; 1 Cor. 15:3–4)
05 – The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit convicts of sin, regenerates the believer, indwells and empowers for godly living, equips for service, and unites the church in Christ. (John 14:16–17; Acts 1:8)
06 – Humanity & Sin
We believe all people are created in God’s image yet fallen in Adam and separated from God by sin, under His just wrath, and in need of salvation. (Gen. 1:26–27; Rom. 3:10-18, 23)
07 – Salvation
We believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Those who repent and believe are justified, adopted, sanctified, and will be glorified. (Eph. 2:8–9; Rom. 3:21-26; 5:1-2)
08 – The Church
We believe the universal church is composed of all true believers in Christ. The local church is God’s ordained means for worship, teaching, fellowship, discipleship, and mission. (Acts 2:42–47; Heb. 10:24–25)
09 – Ordinances
We believe Jesus instituted two ordinances for the church:- Baptism (for believers as a sign of faith and union with Christ)- The Lord’s Supper (as a remembrance of His death and proclamation of His return). (Matt. 28:19–20; 1 Cor. 11:23–26)
10 – The Last Things
We believe in the personal, visible return of Jesus Christ, the bodily resurrection of the dead, the final judgment, the eternal joy of the redeemed, and the eternal punishment of the lost. (1 Thess. 4:16–17; Rev. 20:11–15)
